The Wedding Planning Business
Have you been dreaming of working from home while doing something you love? That was me a few short years ago. Then I made a decision that changed my life. I started a wedding planning business.
At 18, I had an event planning internship and fell in love withe the business. From then on, I dreamed of having my own wedding planning business someday. It took ten years, but at 28 years old, I finally took the plunge and pursued my passion.
It took several months of research, but I did it! I opened for business in 2015. By June of 2016, I was able to leave my full-time job. Staying home and focusing on family was a dream-come-true for me.
I’m incredibly fortunate to live in a college town. It changed the trajectory of my life. Shortly after opening for business, I had college students approach me about wedding planning internships. I remembered being young and passionate about events and just wanting the opportunity to learn.
That first semester was a little amorphous… We mostly chatted about the bridal business over cups of coffee once a week, but there was no clearly defined structure to the internship. I loved talking about and teaching wedding planning to my intern, but I realized I needed a curriculum before the next semester.
The need for curriculum started a new journey for me. I began writing down everything I did to start my business, and my processes for planning weddings. That turned into an entire course-worth of material. I turned those notes into an online course for aspiring wedding planners. I can’t imagine anything better… I get to help other people pursue their dreams, all while doing exactly what I love.
In addition to the wedding planning and the online course, I have this blog. Again, I get to do what I love from the comfort of my home. I get to write about small business, entrepreneurship, wedding planning, and pursuing your passion… and I get to make money from it!
If you’ve been on the fence about starting that side hustle or maybe your dream business, you can do it!
If you’re interested in wedding planning, check out the course. We’d love to have you as a part of the community!
